HND Year 2

The programme throughout year 2 is designed to develop students as creative practitioners equipped with transferrable knowledge and skills. Courses are project driven and offer students an interdisciplinary programme covering 2D, 3D and digital art practice. Each project is geared towards equipping students to become independent learners.

During the year the purpose of exhibition is to further develop professional practice.  This gives students the opportunity to present and evaluate projects and identify any areas for improvement. For the final assessment, in June, students undertake responsibility for planning, preparing and installing art work in the production of an exhibition of contemporary art forms as well as being involved in the marketing and promotion of the exhibition itself. In addition students are expected to help maintain the exhibition and dismantle it at its conclusion.

HND Contemporary Art Practice has an excellent success rate for students progressing to higher education at GSA, ECA, DJCAD, Grays School of Art and Highlands and Islands University in Scotland. Some students opt to study further afield in London, Liverpool, Manchester and European cities such as Amsterdam.
